27 Jul Len Mondschein Honored with 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award

One of our founding attorneys, Leonard E. Mondschein, J.D., LL.M., CELA, CAP, Fellow, has received the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar. The award was presented “in recognition of his dedication and professionalism and the promotion and advancement of the practice of Elder Law.”

In presenting the award, Section leadership noted that Len has spent his career leading by example, quietly encouraging colleagues to give their time and talents to the practice and to each other.

Over 50 years of practice, Len has taken on numerous leadership roles within the Elder Law community, including as a former member of the NAELA Board of Directors, Past Chair of the Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar, and Past President of the Estate Planning Council of Greater Miami, the South Dade Estate Planning Council, and the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Aging in Miami-Dade County. He is a Nationally Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) and a member of the Council of Advanced Practitioners (CAP). He was named a NAELA Fellow in 2021, the organization’s highest honor, followed by the Jerome Solkoff Advocacy Award in 2022.

Len has also been named Chapter Member of the Year by the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys and Member of the Year by the Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar. He has published and lectured widely on Elder Law and Medicaid planning throughout his career.

Beyond these honors, Len currently co-chairs the Section’s committee on Medicaid and estate recovery issues, where he is helping lead a legislative initiative on behalf of Florida’s Elder Law practitioners. He also hosts a monthly gathering of colleagues to discuss issues facing the practice, a reflection of the collegiality and generosity that have defined his career.
